The Family Medicine Program at St. Boniface focuses on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease, as well as the promotion and maintenance of general good health in the individual. Programs include the Family Medical Centre, located at 400 Taché Avenue, and Palliative Care.

Palliative Care
In 1974, St. Boniface became the first hospital in Canada to create a palliative care program. Today, St. Boniface is home to an advanced palliative care unit and part of the Winnipeg regional palliative care program.

In an environment designed to support care to patients and families, the program offers inpatient and outpatient services and focuses on protecting the dignity, easing the suffering and preserving the overall quality of life of those who are reaching the end of life. The 15 private, residential-style rooms provide a warm, family-oriented environment.

The unit also features a large solarium where patients and families can enjoy a view of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers.
