QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Graduate of a Health Care, Public Administration or Business
    Administration Program at the Baccalaureate level required
  • Accounting courses desirable
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and related software/spreadsheet applications
  • Three (3) years related administrative experience, preferably in a health care setting
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work under pressure and adjust to a dynamic work environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and with initiative
  • Proven organizational skills

MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTIONIST - HEALTH RECORDS

BI-WEEKLY HOURS: 15.50

PAY RANGE: $16.376 - $18.984

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Grade XII or recognized equivalent
  • Successful completion of a recognized Medical Secretarial program that included transcribing medical terminology
    - or -
  • Successful completion of the Medical Transcription Program at Red River College
  • Keyboard Speed: 60 wpm
  • Medical Transcription Speed: 35 wpm**
  • Dictatyping skills
  • Ability to work in a Windows operating environment
  • One (1) year medical transcription experience
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Ability to retain information which is of a confidential nature
  • Good interpersonal communication skills

    **NOTE: Applicants will be required to complete a Medical Transcription Speed Test administered by the Department

  • Successful completion of a recognized program in Clerical Bookkeeping or Accounting at the certification level
  • Keyboard Speed 45 wpm
  • Knowledge/skill of computer systems and current and related software applications.
  • Two (2) years related clerical experience, at least one (1) year of which was in a financial area. *Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered*
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand French would be an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical aptitude
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to retain information on a confidential basis

QUALIFICATIONS:

.

  • Grade XII or recognized equivalent
  • Successful completion of an accredited Health Records Technician Program, Health Information Technologist Program or recognized equivalent required
  • Membership with the Canadian Health Records Association preferred
  • Successful completion of SBGH HIT aptitude(competency)test(70% on Part A and 70% on Part B)
  • Ability to successfully achieve an accuracy rate of 75% based on all fields coded/abstracted within 90 days
  • Ability to successfully achieve coding and abstracting a number of charts(daily average) equal to 73% of the coding peer group(ie. Obstetrics/New Born, Medical/Surgical, or Day/Night Care coding) within 90 days
  • Two (2) years experience in coding/abstracting work experience utilizing the
    ICD-9-CM and/or ICD-10-CM coding classification in conjunction with the Manitoba Hospital Information System is preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of coding rules and principles and of the MH Hospital Abstract User Manual is required
  • Knowledge of CIHI standards and methodologies preferred
  • Requires high level attention to detail with a high accuracy expectation
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Legible handwriting
  • Mature, professional manner
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to retain information of a confidential nature
