The following unfilled positions are available within the Surgery Program:

 

INFORMATION ON THE SURGERY PROGRAM

A6West (28 pre & post op areas)

  • Procedure Beds – prep and recovery for outpatients requiring procedures (i.e. blood transfusions, IV therapy, ECT, diagnostic imaging, dressing changes)
  • Overnight Stay Beds (10) for sleep apnea and post operative or post procedure patients requiring an overnight stay with a discharge time of 0900 hours.
  • Day surgery patients for gyne, general surgery, vascular, urology, Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT), plastics, head & neck, dialysis catheter insertions.
  • All Same Day Admissions are admitted pre-op.

A4West Pre-operative clinic only

  • Screening occurs for all pre-op Day Surgery, Same Day Admission and some Procedure Charts.
  • All high risk and some low risk patients are seen in the clinic.  This involves physical assessment, history taking and patient teaching.

Ambulatory Care Surgery/Medicine
(30,000 visits/year)

  • Variety of patient populations that see a number of specialists and ambulatory care
  • Patients range from children to the elderly; approximately 150-200 patients/day
  • Wound Care Clinic is a nurse run clinic

A7West (24 beds)

  • General surgery
  • ACSS (2 assessment beds)

A7South (29 beds)

  • General surgery, ENT (head and neck), dental surgery

NFA (Not for Admission)

  • Endoscopy & minor procedures
  • Utilize local anesthetic or conscious sedation
  • Area consists of prep/recovery and the procedure rooms

OR (14 theatres) 10,000 cases annually

  • Vascular, cardiac, gynecology, otolaryngology, plastics, general surgery, orthopedics, urology

Post Anaesthetic Recovery Room (PARR) (12 beds)

  • Post anaesthetic recovery

A4 South
(20 ward beds and a 5 bed stepdown unit)

  • Urology, vascular, plastics
  • Surgical patients requiring continuous monitoring



A6 WEST


POSITION NUMBER: 0404
POSITION: FULL TIME (1.0) TERM
TERM DATES: ASAP - INDEFINITE
SHIFT LENGTH: 7 3/4
ROTATION: DAY/EVENING

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CRNM registration required
  • Two (2) years recent Surgical nursing experience required

**Nurses currently working on the Unit will be deemed qualified

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT A6W IS COMPRISED OF NFA, A4 WEST AND A6 WEST, NURSES WILL BE EXPECTED TO WORK IN ALL THREE (3) GEOGRAPHIC AREAS.

If there are no applicants meeting the qualifications, the employer may consider an
applicant who does not meet the above qualifications.

Note: Please be advised that there are staggered start and finish times for day and evening shifts on this unit:
Day shifts are between the hours of 0615 and 1715
Evening shifts are between the hours of 1115 and 2345
There are also standby on call shifts on this unit

A RESUME IS REQUIRED WHEN APPLYING FOR THIS POSITION
